Each month we will announce four weeks' worth of writing prompt words. Then, each week we will have a designated Weekly Word that will be the writing topic (some examples are RISK, FEAR, HOPE, LOVE etc.). Anyone is free to submit an essay that relates to that week’s Word. All selected pieces will be posted on our Facebook and Instagram from Monday to Sunday of the following week. A new word will be selected every week.
Here are a few things you need to know before submitting:
- Submissions can be sent to thewklycreative@gmail.com or in the submission form below.
- Length is 400 words or less for Instagram & Facebook, if only Facebook, word count is at your discretion.
- With emails, essays are to be placed directly in the body, and the subject line should contain the Weekly Word.
- A picture or image is requested that relates to the essay, if you do not have one, please note that and one can be provided.
- All content must be original and cannot be owned by another publication/person. By submitting an essay and picture to us, you are verifying you own the rights.
The current topic/Word will always be shown in our social media Profile Pictures. However, we will now accept submissions for any current or past words as long they are not offensive or inappropriate. Also, if you have a word suggestion, please send the word or idea in the similar format as a writing submission. Essays can be credited to the writer or posted anonymously. All selected pieces will receive an email confirmation with a request for final approval.
